Definitions are files that act like an encyclopedia of known viruses and other potentially unwanted software. Because viruses are continually being developed, Element TotalProtect relies on up-to-date definitions to determine if software that is trying to install, run, or change settings on your computer is potentially unwanted or malicious software.

To check for updates;

1. Open the Element TotalProtect Protection Center by clicking Start, clicking Programs, and then the clicking Element TotalProtect folder, Element TotalProtect.
2. Click Run Update in the Computer Protection section.
3. The protection center will close.
4. The wizard will guide you through the process of updating your software, and once complete, the protection center will open and show you the version of your definition files.

Note: From time to time Element Software updates the Element TotalProtect software. The software is also updated to maintain performance, security and effectiveness of Element TotalProtect on your computer. These updates are mandatory.
