Upgrades and renewals
Element Software offers product upgrades and renewal options to our
valued customers.
General Scope for upgrades
Element Software, in general, offers a once only free
upgrade from one major product version to its next major version
number. For example, an upgrade from Element TotalProtect 2010
> Element TotalProtect 2011 would be free, and non
transferable once only. We generally do not offer a free upgrade
beyond this scope if an upgrade path was already made.
Upgrading past a next major version of one of our products is not
supported, we only offer a free upgrade for the version that would
be 'deemed' an upgrade. E.g. Version 3.0 > Version 4.0.
After one upgrade path is committed, a purchase is required for the
next major version after the version that you made the upgrade to.
So, for example, If you purchased Element TotalProtect 2010, Element
Software will send a free upgrade key to your e-mail address when
you purchased your product for the next major version, in this
example, being Element TotalProtect 2011.
Once the upgrade is made Element Software will not send a free
upgrade key to the next version. You will be required to purchase a
new license, because it is beyond the scope that our upgrade policy
covers.
General Scope for renewals
Element Software provides support and updates for purchased
products for one year, that being the date the product was released.
E.g. if a product was released in 2010, its support would end 2011.
License keys can be used indefinitely beyond this support period,
but you will not receive any product upgrades or support beyond this
period.
To continue to receive product support beyond what we deem 'end of
life' status, you will be required to purchase a subsidised renewal
offer, in which we deal individually with customers to provide
updates and free continued support. Renewals only last for a period
of one year before you will be required to renew the product support
again for the next year. Depending on the year of support, product
renewals may not be offered, and you will be required to make an
upgrade to the next version if you wish to receive product upgrades
and free support.
In general, you can only renew the product for an additional two
years after end of life status is applied. You will still be able to
use the product fully, but updates and support will not be offered.
