Requirements for Widgets
For any
standard or non-complex application, we
require it to be a HTML or JavaScript web application, which will be
converted upon submission by Element Software to a .widget file extension
format. Because of the nature of our file format, and how it must interface
with the Widget Runtime Framework engine, the conversion between the two
formats must be done by Element Software to protect our proprietary code.
For any
complex application, such as a widget that may
require access to machine resources, it must be developed as a managed .NET
application. All we require from the user is the compiled binary, and we
will embed the binary as a .widget file for running in Element Browser. We
do not allow for widgets that are developed in older, unsupported languages.
Widgets must be signed by Element Software to run in Element Browser.
Unsigned widgets will not be detected by Element Browser and hence will not
be able to run. Widgets upon release date will be signed by Element Browser
with accordance to its version. E.g widget requires version 3.0.0.2 or
higher etc.
How to publish your widget
If you have a widget ready, be it a HTML including JavaScript files
and images, or it a managed .net executable, please archive it (zip)
including its resources and
send it to us. We will verify and convert to a widget file format for
you, and the widget will be released to the store.
Requirements for Plugins
Plugins for Element Browser work in exactly the same way as they do
in Netscape based browsers e.g Mozilla Firefox. Please consult the Mozilla
documentation and ElementKit documentation in how to develop Plugins for
Netscape (NS) based browsers.
How to publish your plugin
Please send the compiled DLL or XPI file to us and we will verify and create
installation routines for you.
How to publish your Macros
Macros are recorded activities performed in Element Browser in the XML
format. Anyone can record activities in Element Browser and export them to
an XML file format. To publish your XML macro to the store, please
