Complete revision of user interface. The interface is now more compact than previous versions of Element Browser, and the orb has been replaced by the menu stage, with a similar appearance to the new Scenic button layout.
All Features in the browser have been revised, improved and updated.
There are now animations throughout the browser, giving it a more streamline appearance.
Major improvements have been made to the garbage collector and memory management, bringing a near instant-on start-up speed.
The personal hub has been given major improvements, and now also allows for manual pinning of websites.
The 'Shelves' (tabs with thumbnails) view of the browser has been minimized to reduce screen clutter, and its appearance and usability has improved in overall quality.
Element Browser 5 is now officially the fastest browser, and SunSpider JavaScript benchmarks are down to an average of 330ms.
Websites and the GUI are completely rendered using the GPU through hardware acceleration; the entire surface is composited before being displayed. This also includes plug-ins such as Adobe Flash.
Dialogs and settings throughout the browser have been simplified.
Complete revision of the menu and more organized workflow.
There have been a huge amount of bug fixes and security updates made to the browser in this beta, and also more quality refinements.
Unlike the previous version of Element Browser, the entire window is now rendered using WPF, giving a sharper and quality display whilst improving system performance. (Element Browser 4’s interface was partial XAML)
Mouse gesture intelligence has also been improved.
Personal hub start-up speed has been dramatically improved by caching thumbnails and website data.
Websites are now pre-fetched before being displayed, giving a more ‘instant-on’ appearance.
Element Browser’s interface is also now more keyboard friendly, and a vast majority of elements can be selected with the keyboard.
The bookmarks library has also been improved.
The architecture of the tabs, session, and plug-ins is process based, so none of these aspects can crash the browser if one of these elements were to fail.
Automatic Crash Recovery is also available in this update, as well as isolated browsing and protected mode.
The installation process has also been simplified, requiring only one click to install.
